Got them printed

The birthday has actually taken place now (3rd September) and the day went extremely well. The birthday boy was overwhelmed and loved seeing all his friends and family all together.

I will up load some photos of the day when I sort through them.

Invites are complete and have been sent to print, they should arrive next Friday but hopefully earlier. I'll update with photos when they get here.

The Scarecrow and his cat

I'm in the process of designing my boyfriends granddad's birthday invites for his surprise party in September. The theme is Autumn/Harvest festival and we've decided upon this little fella to be the mascot.

Created using watercolour for a more textured appearance.

WIP Update

Used some pencil crayon and fine liner on top of the watercolour.

Still not finished! Need more hours in the day!

WIP Portrait

Trying out a different technique in completing a portrait image using watercolour.

It's not finished just yet hence the wonky eyes etc. I might try using various other mediums on top of the watercolour such as soft earthy pencil and maybe ink.

Voodoo Lady

Just a new character i designed for a collaboration with a friend, Neil Smith, who is an amazing 3D artist and will hopefully be converting my sketches and designs of this character into a 3D model, check out his work at: www.scrawledpages.co.uk

I've just finished with the base colours and will be moving onto the shading so this might be finished by the end of the day.

Heir

I managed to get my pages finished relatively early and thought i might as well (as i have time) make some small books out of them to take to the London Book Fair next week to hand out to lucky, lucky people (mainly publishers). 

This isn't the full chapter but i wanted to stop at a place where it was more appropriate as the chapter isn't finished yet so left it on a bit of a (obvious) cliffhanger. They are all handmade with maxim frustration! Setting out the pages to match each other was a pain and once that was sorted it was the whole lining it up and not chopping off important parts of pages. There is one page that unfortunately keeps getting one (sometimes two) of it's cells slightly sliced off but it's unavoidable at the moment as i don't have the time to start adjusting it all in photoshop, I'll save that for the bigger version i will be handing in as my FMP (Final Major Project).

I am quite the perfectionist and have been told by my boyfriend to stop worrying about tiny imperfections as nobody notices them but overall i'm quite pleased with it and hope other are too. 

Anyway here is the little beauty...

Postcards and Stickers

I got my self promo stuff today for the London Book Fair. I'm really pleased with how it all turned out.

Front Cover

Amongst other things i have finally got my front cover for my comic finished, i would have got it done alot quicker if i didn't have 1001 other things to do as well! but i hay ho, it's finally done. Next is the back cover which will hopefully be alot simpler and quicker to complete.

Overall i'm quite happy with the result, i feel it's quite intriguing without giving to much away.

Edit: I've just check this post and when you enlarge the image the colours come out extremely garish, this is NOT what the image colours really look like and i'm not sure why it is doing it. The colours on the small image are the true ones.

Edit: Managed to fix the problem! I don't think blogger liked it being CYMK.

Realistic Finished

Finally finished the realistic version of Fia. Here 's the final result:

Obviously the original version is a much higher res and bigger.

Etsy

I set up an Etsy shop a while back but have just recently posted some items to sell. They are handmade note/sketch/list (whatever you see fits) books. I am selling them at £5.50 each because like i said they are handmade and as they are each individual and unique i personally think it's worth it. Feel free to browse:

Realistic

Here is a WIP of one of my characters, Fia, I'm trying her out in a more realistic style compared to my usual style and something tells me this might take some time to complete!

  

As I said I don't normally do realistic so her face is probably all lopsided and completely WRONG but i guess I'll learn.

Finally finished my first design for a set of postcards, i wanted them to match the business cards to used the same colours and design.

Business Cards

Really excited about getting my business cards printed!! I'm really happy with the design and layout, it's exactly how I want to advertise myself. I do have some old ones I had made on my work experience but they don't hold the right information and I pretty much had to quickly grab an image to use instead of thinking about it.

Thought i would update you on how my portrait is going, i got extra time on it as i didn't get to see him over the christmas period, i will hopefully get it finished this weekend as i have manged to get my Uni project done and dusted EARLY! whoo, go me!
